Tips for Japanese Students
First-hand advice from Japanese students on finding food and everyday essentials.
Grocery
For daily shopping, students and families can visit AEON Mall Nilai or Lotus’s, located just 10–15 minutes from campus. The AEON supermarket offers an excellent selection of imported Japanese seasonings, condiments, snacks, and personal care goods. Specialty Japanese groceries can also be ordered online or bought at Don Don Donki or Isetan in central Kuala Lumpur.

What to bring
-
Layers for air-conditioning
Indoor spaces (classrooms, dining hall, study lounges) are well air-conditioned. Bringing light zip-up hoodies, cardigans, or long-sleeve shirts is strongly advised.
-
Sun & insect protection
High-SPF sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses are necessary for daily sports routines. Insect repellent and anti-itch creams are also helpful for outdoor practice.
-
Universal plug adapters
Malaysia operates at 240V and uses Type G (BF) electrical sockets. Bringing multiple universal adapters from Japan is required for personal electronics.
-
Japanese stationery & essentials
Japanese gel pens, mechanical pencils, preferred skincare products, and familiar over-the-counter medications should be packed from home for convenience.
