Studying at a boarding school abroad can be a life-changing opportunity for Japanese students.

Compared to other East Asian countries, study abroad opportunities at boarding schools remain overlooked by Japanese students. From my experiences studying overseas, the underrepresentation of Japanese students is a growing issue. To address this, I wanted to create “Habataku Ryugaku,” a platform built on first-hand experience studying abroad and tailored information for Japanese students. I believe that this platform will be the first step for more Japanese families and students to discover boarding schools abroad as an educational opportunity to grow and expand their horizons.

Our Story

Sena / Student at Choate Rosemary Hall

Hi, I'm Sena, a high school senior studying at Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Connecticut.

Over the past 7 years, I've lived and studied at boarding schools in Malaysia, Australia, and the US. This unique experience has allowed me to explore different cultures and perspectives, which I value the most. Spending the vast majority of my educational career outside of Japan has made me passionate about advocating for overseas educational opportunities for Japanese students, which led me to start this initiative.
